Hello, Friends. Three notes:
First, a reminder that Outreach is "hosting" this month's "Meeting for Eating" potluck this Sunday, so there will be lunch for us all after Worship even if you don't have time to prepare a dish to share!
Second, a note from our Quarterly Meeting clerk about John Hardiman:
Jane,
Betsy
Third, a lovely piece of feedback from Ben Parent, the leader of the "roots-rock" band at our Peace Farm Fair on Saturday. Soooo many of you worked soooo hard on this event that I want to share it with you:
Hey Jane and Marlies-
The Rivergods were perfectly happy with that crowd, and to be there at such a great and worthy event. When Nan and I finally left, Mike our bass player was still there, somewhere... (!) I assume watching the documentary inside, or something. We all had a great time, despite our cold hands!
Anyway, I think an important thing to remember about the press is that you gained a lot of exposure for the farm... sure, warmer weather would have brought a few more bodies, but the articles that ran in the local papers really expressed the sense of activism and community that are obviously flourishing there. Raising awareness for the farm in general is not a bad thing at all. ( Next time you have an event listed in the paper, people will go "wasn't that the place that had that big fair last fall with the Paper Beasts??") And it sounds like you did well raising money, too, which is also great.
Lastly, it was indeed a pleasure to get together with Ben, Mo, Kit, and you. What a nice, close artistic family you guys are. Kit and I shared a lot of laughs throughout the day.
Take care... and keep up the good work!
-Ben

Second, a note from our Quarterly Meeting clerk about John Hardiman:
Jane,
When I read the minutes today everyone was struck by the spirituality of John Hardiman's life. Jonathan Vogel Bourne mentioned his involvement in NEYM as well. The feeling was that his memorial minute may be one we want to send on to NEYM, and we should discern that in April.
We will have another Quarterly M&C in January, here in Foster, and then April date will be the 18th.
I hope you slept in a bit on this yucky day.
